When an un-fortunate life makes Art

If anyone reading this remembers THE ROCKETEER, there was a very scarey villian that broke peoples backs. The make-up used on that actor was copied from a real person! Rondo Hatten developed acromegaly, a slowly progressive deforming of bones in the head, hands and feet. This gave Rondo a monsterous appearance. Universal pictures used his "Look" to great advantage in several films. One of his best roles was that of the CREEPER in the Basil Rathbone, Sherlock Holmes film THE PEARL OF DEATH (1944). His best role in my opinion was THE BRUTE MAN (1946). Originally made by Universal, it was sold to PRC. It was also his last film role. He died of a heart attack at age 52.
